Aka "Three Seahorses"

My 2008 entry for :iconjkrolak: contest (details of which can be found here [link]).

I wish I could have spent even more time on this, getting a more believable underwater background, but I have a healthy lot of uni work to be finishing :(

Anyway, I hope the story's explained in the picture. Tribute to Ursula, since she has my favourite scene of any disney movie (the Poor Unfortunate Souls song). Ursula is copyright disney and all that jazz.

Great job! If i was juz after the prize, i would now think twice of joining the contest! The underwater background is great IMO... the light rays could've been a big smoother but it's all good!

Aww you're too kind! You're right about the light rays, but i'm glad it still looks like an underwater background (I was worried it was just...blue) Are you going to have an entry for this year's contest?

Nah.. im not kind. Juz honest. :) If you were worried that the scenery didnt look like it was underwater, you could stop already. :)

Yep... im gonna join coz it sounds cool. I juz started sketching it out a few hours ago and ill probably work on it tomorrow. Its hard coz ive never drawn a horse before. :)

nice take! I would say that perhaps her horse part was too slender, making her body look like a plasticine figure jammed onto a horses head. The fat falls nicely, but it falls onto very little for continuity. Of course I've never really seen a fat horse...

Pallete is very nice, and her legs are shaded very nicely, but maybe her arms are shaded too much like your other work. Hair is sweet. Nice job!

yes! That was exactly what I was going for- the point was meant to be that she just sucks as a centaur. But I prefer the arms more than the horse half- do you mean it's not continuous with the colour palette? Cuz I can kinda see that now- black and white are a lot easier to shade according to a colour scheme, but when it comes to putting a colour on top of another colour my head goes poof :(
